Recording session with Lasse Lindgren's Big Constellation
01.01.2019

Lasse Lindgren is an amazing trumpet player from Sweden, with whom I have had the pleasure of working for a few years now. His new Big Constellation - a Big Band formation in the tradition of Maynard Ferguson's great bands - is based in Zagreb, Croatia.

We already published a double album with unrecorded arrangements written for Maynard, The Unrecorded Fox. Now we're gonna have fun with a bunch of new music arranged for us!

The album is due to come out later this year for the awesome Scottish label Sleepy Night Records. Please check out their catalogue, it's a treasure trove of previously unreleased recordings by great artists such as Miles Davis, Chet Baker and Doris Day!

Two concerts with Thomson Big Band and Thomson Swing Band
18.11.2019

The Thomson Jazz Club is an amazing institution in Singapore. It is run out of Thomson Community Center and supports 2 whole big bands, with different repertoires and scope.

I've been playing with the Thomson Big Band for a while now, and am looking forward to playing for the amazing Jane Goodall on 26 November here.

On 23 November, I'll play the baritone with Thomson Swing Band for a community outreach concert at the National Library in Harbourfront.

Pictures at an (SG) Exhibition
2.11.2019

A while back, I was invited by Dr. Chen Zhangyi, a teacher at YST Conservatory and talented composer, to participate in an amazing project connecting music and visual arts. In Pictures at an (SG) Exhibition, the brainchild of conductor Robert Casteels, 10 young Singaporean composers where invited to write new chamber music pieces inspired by artwork in the Singapore National Gallery.

We performed the pieces at the end of October and recorded them during the following days. The recordings will be exposed at the National Gallery alongside the paintings that inspired them.

Jazz Improvisation at YST Conservatory (NUS)
15.8.2019

It's been more than half a year since I moved to Singapore, and I think I've made quite some progress on my way towards being well integrated.

I've performed with many greats of the local jazz scene, including Luis Soliano, Bani Rahman and the Blue Monks, Mathilda D'Souza and many others, and with the Thomson Big Band I've found a new way to satisfy my large ensemble needs.

After a short stint teaching jazz saxophone at the Singapore School of the Arts (SOTA), I am now proud to announce that I'll be the first to teach Jazz Improvisation at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (National University of Singapore)!

From now on, I'll also be available for private lessons, so feel free to send me a line from the Contact page.
